The University of Northern Iowa (UNI) is a public university in Cedar Falls, Iowa. For more than 120 years, the University of Northern Iowa has fostered a premier learning and teaching environment. While emphasizing undergraduate education, UNI offers graduate programs at the master’s, specialist’s and doctoral levels.
UNI offers nearly 160 majors, minors and areas of study across the colleges of Business Administration, Education, Health and Human Sciences, Humanities and Fine Arts, Natural Sciences, Social and Behavioral Sciences and Graduate College.
In the Fall 2024, UNI began offering an undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Also in 2024, UNI added a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science & Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science Engineering Technology. The University of Northern Iowa is ranked second in the "Best Regional Universities (Midwest)" category for public universities, according to U.S. News & World Report's 2020 "America's Best Colleges" guidebook. UNI was also 20th on a combined list of all public and private Midwest regional universities. UNI was also named the best public college in Iowa for getting a job with a 94% job placement rate.
